New Dunedin district plan takes steps towards climate adaptation

After years of discussion and development Dunedin’s Second Generation District Plan (#2GP) was released today.  The 2GP will impact the shape of our city and our community and it will affect how we do things for years to come.  Early reports, including this one on Radio NZ, suggest that decision makers have understood the need to start adapting to climate change, including a requirement for houses built in flood prone areas to be relocatable.   Adaptive planning is what underpins the Climate Safe House project, and we are pleased to see adaptation measures being incorporated into local government plans.
